Just heard a band named Death Cab For Cutie for the first time. Awesome name. “Death Cab For Cutie”?! Who the hell comes up with a name like that? What’s the story? And I liked the lyrics and music, with the guitars and what not, but listening to this one song, “I Will Follow You Into The Dark”…

Death Cab For Cutie took their name from a Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band song called “Death Cab For Cutie”. The Bonzo Dog band were associated with the Beatles, Python, and many other British acts from the 1960s/1970s. So forget about Death Cab For Cutie, go listen to Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band!

You are fucking kidding me. I fucking love Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah band.

This is insane.

EVERYTHING I LOVE IS RELATED!

(Which sounds odd if you read it in a certain way.)

HERE IS A LINK TO THE SONG. YOU MUST LISTEN TO IT.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbkdelZigwc

And I am correct in understanding you mean everything you love is related in the co-incidence sense, and not in the incestual sense. I hope.

If you like that song you might appreciate this cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCPRagQHhBw

Abandoned Velma by ~nebriniel
Please leave the credit and links to the artist.

Description:

“I’ve seen numerous fanarts of Velma, depicting her as some über curvy and sexy and geeky fantasy material… and for some reason, I wanted to draw the opposite - a tubby Velma, an out of shape Velma, a having-finished-with-the-mystery-squad-letting-herself-go Velma… I mean, that happens, right? People get done with what they think are their glory days and kind of just… exist instead of living. So here we have Velma that’s been stood up on a date. I picture this being her first date with that particular guy, but not the first time she’s been abandoned like that.Instead of distress, I wanted to show her as being used to this sort of thing by now - she’s gotten into a habit of bringing a book along with her, even. I would say she never held out much hope for succeeding with the date tonight, but, nevertheless, tried to make herself look nice. She’s not grieving much, as her outlook on the whole situation is rather removed and philosophical after so many failures

Well, that’s depressing. I liked the picture. So I’m gonna make a new story.
In my version, she’s done with the Mystery Machine gang, and moved to Paris, where she is now a famous mystery writer. This is her hanging out a small cafe a friend of hers owns. She comes and hangs out with her book and a glass of wine whenever she likes. Her friend has live music on the weekends, so this is more like a relaxed tuesday night. She sent in her latest manuscript weeks ago, so she’s taking a little break for herself, to catch up on the reading she wants to do. Her friend stops by and chats with her now and then while she reads, but he knows that she’s pretty happy just sitting and sipping her wine, so mostly he leaves her be. Some people think she’s eccentric, but she pays them no mind. She’s Velma and she’s happy with herself, as has always been evident to those who recognize that nerdy and introverted is not inherently shy, miserable or even lonely. She makes no apologies for who and what she is. She has never been the type to awkwardly mold herself into grotesque parodies of other people. When she has had enough of her mild socializing, she’ll pack up her book and head home, to her comfortable flat. She keeps her spare room ready for guests, like family or the old mystery gang. Although always happy to see them, she wishes they would call first next time.

Your description fits much better with the picture. She looks chic and confident and relaxed.
Why is everyone so convinced that fat women are all miserable and depressed because they Can’t Get A Guy and have generally given up on life (the poor things)? People are always so pitying and condescending even when they’re trying to be understanding, lol.
